Team Management

This page explains how the team owner can add or remove team members, change a teammate's permissions, and make 2FA authentication mandatory for the team.

Termius Team, Business, and Enterprise plans let you manage shared infrastructure with your team.

As a team owner, you can:

  • Add team members

  • Remove team members from a team

  • Grant access to shared data

  • Change team name

  • Require 2FA for all team members

  • Transfer ownership to another member

  • Configure SAML SSO (add-on)

  • Manage subscription Billing and plans

Set up your team

Invite your team members to start collaborating in Termius. Termius will automatically create a default Team vault where you can securely share and manage data together. Also, you can create custom team vaults to separate access by projects, clients, environments, departments, or other criteria. Learn more Team vaults.

Invite team members

  1. Open the Team page on the account management portal

  2. In the Team members section, enter the email address to invite a team member

  3. Click Invite to send them a unique invitation link

  4. Wait for the member to accept the invitation

  5. Once joined, Team Management

After a new member accepts the invitation, they join the team but cannot access any shared data until you explicitly grant them access to the vaults.

Grant access to vaults

To give a new team member access to the shared data:

  1. Open the Team page on the account management portal

  2. Click Grant access under the member's email

  3. If prompted, enter your encryption password

  4. Set permissions:

    1. Can edit: Allows creating, updating, and deleting data within the vault; adding or removing members

    2. Can view: Allows viewing data, initiating connections to hosts, and running snippets. Data cannot be modified

Change a team name

  1. Open the Team page on the account management portal

  2. In the Team details section enter a new team name

  3. The new team name will be saved automatically

Require 2FA for all team members

  1. Open the Team page on the account management portal

  2. In the Team details section, enable Require 2FA for all team members. Team members will be prompted to set up 2FA the next time they open the app or log in

  3. If a team member hasn't enabled 2FA yet, it will be shown next to his email address

Remove a team member from the team

  1. Open the Team page on the account management portal

  2. Next to the member's email, click the three-dot menu and select Remove

  3. Choose what to do with their account:

    • Convert to an individual Termius account — the member loses access to shared data but keeps their Personal vault and all data in it

    • Delete the account from Termius — permanently deletes the account and Personal vault. The person will need to create a new account to use Termius again

Removing a member does not reduce the number of seats in your subscription. To adjust your seat count, see Billing and plans.

Transfer team ownership to another member

Transferring team ownership passes full control of the team to another member, including permissions to manage the team, billing, and vaults. Once the transfer is complete, you will lose access to these management capabilities.

The transfer requires actions from both the current and the new owner:

1

To initiate the transfer, as the current owner:

  1. Open the Team page on the account management portal

  2. Next to the member's email, click the three-dot menu and select Make a team owner

  3. Enter your encryption password to confirm

  4. After that, you will no longer have permissions to manage the team, billing, or vaults

2

To complete the transfer, as the new owner:

  1. Open the Team page on the account management portal

  2. If prompted, enter your encryption password

  3. Click Done to complete the transfer
