Groups

Last updated 5 days ago

Termius allows you to arrange hosts into groups. These groups can be used not only for organization but to define a set of defaults for newly created hosts in that group. Group defaults can be overwritten per-host if need be.

For example, you may want to group hosts by their role (i.e. production, staging, or development), by their region, datacenter, or owning client if you are a freelancer. Or, you may wish to define a default port of 2222 for all of your hosts in that group. For safety, you could use the red theme for production servers, green for staging, and blue for development to help prevent you running the wrong command on a production server.

Additionally, groups can be nested like folders. When creating a new group, you can optionally specify its parent group. Nested groups also apply their defaults to hosts.

Creating a New Group

To create a new group, tap on Hosts then tap the green + icon at the top and tap New Group.

The only required field is Label, a name you wish to give the group, but you can specify other options that will serve as default values for hosts in that group.

If you wish this group to be a child of another group, you'll need to create the parent group first, then assign its parent when creating the child group.

When finished, click Save.
